For International Women’s Day, Creative East End would like to invite you along to take part in a free and informal version of the Glasgow Women’s Library East End Heritage Walk. Glasgow Women’s Library has kindly given us permission to use their Map and downloadable audio tour.
The women of Glasgow’s East End have always had to be industrious and resourceful simply to survive. This walk focuses on some of their achievements and struggles, and the radical nature of the area which gave birth to them.
We will start at the newly refurbished Barras Art & Design Centre, meeting at 3.45pm and leaving at 4pm sharp with a stop off at Glasgow Women’s Library and finishing again at Barras Art & Design where you can join us for a drink and some informal networking.
Please download the audio tour from the Glasgow Women’s Library website; we will have the maps kindly provided by the Library at the start of the tour. Depending on your pace the walk should take around two hours to complete and is quite a gentle wander.
Please note this is not an official guided tour, it is a free Creative East End event.
You can download the audio guide here.
